Friends of Takashi and Midori Nagai
Friends of Takashi and Midori Nagai is a committee, recognized as a Canonical Actor by the Diocese of Nagasaki, formed in Rome on March 23, 2021 by friends who knew the history and faith of Mr. and Mrs. Nagai and were deeply affected by it.
The purpose of the committee is to spread the testimony of this married couple and promote their cause for beatification.
Our Story
What led us to form the Friends of Takashi and Midori Nagai Committee?
"Our story begins in 2017 when a friend and colleague at Medicine and Person, having just read P. Glynn's book Peace on Nagasaki told me about a Japanese radiology doctor, his life, his conversion to Christianity, and the incredible significance he gave to the immense tragedy of the atomic bomb (which had ripped away his wife, many friends, and everything he owned) looked upon as the sacrificial lamb offered by a land of martyrs for the end of the war. I immediately read the book and began to make it known to all friends. Soon Paul Takashi Nagai and his extraordinary bride Marina Midori became daily companions to my life and the lives of so many others."

Important steps
Takashi and Midori Nagai's new friends.
In this 1948 photograph, carpenter friends build Nyokodō on the site where Midori was born and where she offered her life in the ultimate sacrifice. In that hut of only four square meters, Takashi wanted to live in absolute poverty.
Today, by building the small work of this committee, we want to be the new friends of Takashi and Midori Nagai so that the memory of their lives will be known by many people and continue to bear fruit all over the world.
Friends of Takashi and Midori Nagai consists of anassembly of Promoting Members and is governed by a Board of Directors.
