“THE LIFE OF A NEW DAY AWAITS ME, TRUE JOY.”

TAKASHI PAOLO NAGAI

When I realized that what I had to look for was something that does not die, a new and great hope settled in my heart
- Takashi Nagai, What Never Dies
Even today in Japan people say: two were the atomic bombs, but in Hiroshima they shout, while in Nagasaki they pray. Everyone knows that Dr. Takashi Paolo Nagai made the difference. His 2x2-meter hut is a pilgrimage destination and is located on a street called Saint's Street, because Takashi is known in his town as the Saint of Urakami.
THE STORY OF TAKASHI NAGAI
SERVANT OF GOD
MIDORI MARINA MORIYAMA

Midori was born on October 8, 1908. When her parents decide to host Takashi Nagai, a hitherto unknown medical student, she immediately participates with her family in prayer that he may meet Christ. Midori meets him during Christmas Eve 1932. The next day she is saved from certain death by peritonitis thanks to Takashi's timely intervention. Thus begins her discreet presence at the side of young Takashi, who is pondering the meaning of living and dying. The two are united in marriage in August 1934.
