Friday 23 January, at the age of 97, Father Paul Glynn returned to the embrace of the Father. He was a Marist priest of Australian origin who spent a large part of his life as a missionary in Japan.

Thanks to his work, the witness of Takashi and Midori Nagai has been able to reach the whole world over the last forty years. He was the first and only foreign author to write a biography of the life of this married couple, published in English under the title A Song for Nagasaki and later translated into 14 languages.

From his very first encounter with the story of Takashi and Midori Nagai, Father Paul Glynn perceived the greatness of their humanity and faith, which he wished to make known to everyone. It is thanks to him that we too came to encounter these spouses, to the point of beginning the journey of our committee in following them. When, in October 2021, Takashi and Midori Nagai were officially recognized by the Church as Servants of God, we had the privilege of personally sharing the news with Father Paul Glynn. He received it with joy and deep emotion, telling us that he had prayed his whole life for this to happen.

With the gratitude and affection of children, we ask Paul Glynn to accompany us along this path even more closely, now that he watches over us, together with Takashi and Midori, from Heaven.

Interview with Father Paul Glynn, conducted by us in 2019 at the Marist monastery in Australia where he was living.
